HelloMy guess arrived alittle while ago and all is well–they are all bright-eyed and bushy-tailed!:-) Thank you for the care you take in shipping these sweet little creatures so they will arrive safe as well.

ReliableCackle Hatchery is a reliable source for healthy poultry. I have ordered from Cackle for a few seasons and will continue to do business with them!

Great hatchery-and a question for other ownersI grew up with a white Chinese and we wanted to add them when we moved to a large property.
We struggled to find them locally-the co-ops out this way also dont seem to know what they’re selling – we’ve gotten 12layers and 12 poultry bred for meat once, for example, and 10 of the LAYERS were roosters.
So not really the best source.
We used Murray McMurray before our move but cackle had more availability, better prices and lower minimum purchase requirements.
It’s best to find a hatchery and stick with it. Diversions have resulted in really awful shipping conditions for us in the past so do your homework!
We did & Cackle is our go to now.
We’ve purchased tons of chickens, numerous turkeys and about 7 geese here since 2015ish.
Very happy with the quality & care in shipping and the condition of their babies.
I do wonder about the geese-they always have one black spot, usually just under the wings. I dont care but I’m curious! Usually they’re all white. I wonder if a grey goose snuck in somewhere down the line, haha! Anyway I like it. Makes them even prettier to me.
Has anyone else had issues with their goslings getting a limp or lame leg between 2 and 4 months??
Last years batch, the gander died in his sleep (so much growth, probably had some heart thing. I’d rather lose him that way than to a possum, at least) and directly after, 1 female stopped using her left leg. I thought she was sick so I contained her. 1 year later she still limps so I often wonder if someone grabbed her through the fence and i mistook it due to ganders death.
Well this years batch, we got 3 unsexed and I believe this is a girl-she’s developed a left leg lameness that seems to be getting woworse. No other issue I can note. Eats well, wants to be with her pals, but cant keep up so weve kept them up due to the easy prey scenario.
I’m trying to figure out what it could be…has anyone else experienced this? I’d wondered if it was 1 of those things that can just occur in the egg or the bloodline/breed but I’m having trouble pinpointing a general possibility. Bright side: last time I had a goose question, cackle responded to me via Facebook messenger QUICK! & a post to the page helped me hear from other people. So that will be my next move.
    I really love cackle hatchery.
Thanks for being good to these creatures & your customers.

Healthy white chineseI’ve never really raised geese before, got a few because I wanted them as watch dogs. They were very healthy, grew fast, had their own personalities, and seem to be addicted to chewing shoelaces. The only reason I had to donate them to a local pond was because they were so healthy, and so loud. They never bit. anybody but they made you aware of when anyone was around, including myself . If you’re looking for a loud large goose that is very healthy, these are the geese for you. Mine Were semi tme and the gander was the most tame (we named him Norbert). After getting his shoelace fix he would let you reach down and stroke his neck and back

Great for beginnersI had never raised geese before and had gotten 3 of these goslings as hatchery surplus. They were very friendly and imprinted quickly. Unfortunately, I had a predator get 2 of the 3. The lone goose would follow us around the yard and would wait at the back door for us to come out and do chores. I decided to add three more the following year. Like the ones before they imprinted and were very friendly, they are fun to watch, and they are very talkative and interactive.
