Description

Buy Tesla Universal Wall Connector. According to foreign media reports, automaker Tesla has launched a new product: the Tesla Universal Wall Connector, which is very suitable for non-Tesla electric vehicle buyers in North America.
picture
The product is inspired by Tesla’s Magic Dock, a new adapter that integrates into the Supercharger. The Magic Dock acts as a receiver for the Supercharger handle, but when unlocked by a non-Tesla EV owner, it sticks to the connector, disengages from the charging station, and acts as a CCS adapter.
Currently, Tesla also offers the same product, but for home charging and commercial L2 charging. The Tesla Universal Wall Connector looks like a regular Tesla wall connector, but like the Magic Dock, it can become an integrated J1772 adapter.
Otherwise, the Tesla Universal Wall Connector has the same specs as Tesla’s regular home charging solution: up to 44 miles per hour at 11.5 kW / 48 amp output; integrated J1772 adapter for convenient charging of all electric vehicles; auto-sensing handle to open Tesla charging port; monitoring and management of charging schedule and usage through the Tesla app; Wi-Fi connectivity for OTA updates, remote diagnostics, and access control; versatile indoor/outdoor design; variable amperage configuration depending on installation location; sharing power with up to 6 wall connectors; 24-foot cable length; and a four-year warranty for residential use.
The Universal Wall Connector costs $595, which is not much more expensive than Tesla’s other chargers and is highly competitive with non-Tesla home charging solutions. Tesla said it expects to start delivering its Universal Wall Connector in October.

    Pour charge mon vus.

This is our second Wall Connector. We have two EV’s. Both are parked outside because we have no garage. We have EVSE’s for each car. We got our first Tesla Wall Connector almost two years ago when we replaced a Nissan Leaf with a Tesla. It has worked flawlessly and has held up in the weather. When our second Leaf was totaled, we got a second Tesla. The Universal Wall Connector can charge any EV with its built in J1772 adapter. It can be monitored through the Tesla app and is competitively priced. Easy to configure with the app

The fact that this could be set up to work with a range of amperage settings made this invaluable to me. Other than that, nice design and does what it should. Excellent.

My husband got this because he knew it worked well with our MachE, and was less than the Ford charger

Un gran producto original de Tesla. Se instala muy fácilmente y es un gran complemento para el uso diario del vehículo. Funciona muy bien e incluye un adaptador para vehículos No Tesla.

I added this Tesla Universal Wall Charger for my Cadillac Lyriq, this allows me to be ready for now and for the future when the J1772 will be phased out and all newer EV will be using the Tesla connector, I won’t have to change my wall charger.

Using it with a BMW IX 50 and no issues charging at max speed (48A 11kWh). Works great and you can adjust the max amps from the Tesla app but its a pain that you have to connect to the EVSE directly and not over the internet to change such settings.

You can however use the Tesla app to get charging stats but not to change the EVSE config.

Expensive but it does work with charging non-Teslas. Able to charge in summers in Texas weather without issue.

Lo puedo usar en mi Mach E, también en tesla, tiene un mecanismo que no se puede sacar el adaptador osea está en el cargador o en el conector pero no lo puedes llevar en tu vehículo.

It has an adapter, so it can charge the Tesla and the BMW which is really nice.

It worked the first time i tried it BUT!

Adapter stuck in universal wall connector. Charger pulsing green light indicating SSID broadcasting ready to commission. It’s already commissioned and I can see it on the app. I tried to add it again but it says it’s already added so I can’t add it twice. Tried to remove it to add again, but there’s no option to remove it from the app. I can charge my Tesla no problem, but the adapter is stuck in the wall connector I’m unable to charge my non Tesla.

I had a Gen 2 tesla wall connector for a year before this, removed it and installed the universal version to charge my non Tesla. Apparently the universal version has this common issue (do a quick Google search and a bunch of people have had the same issue).

Tried power cycling the circuit breaker but still same issue.

Fonctionne très bien jusqu’à maintenant après 2 mois d’utilisation

Had this professionally installed for my electric car, has been a couple months, so far it’s great

This EV charger is well made and if you have a Tesla, it makes sense to get a Tesla Charger. You will find some no-name brand charges for a bit cheaper but it’s not worth the risk. I was on the fence on getting this charger (Universal Wall Connector) versus the Tesla Wall Connector (only NACS plug) for $120 less. This does the same thing the Tesla Wall Connector does but comes with a built-in NACS to J1772 adapter that is securely locked to the charger. For those with the Cybertruck, the Universal Wall Connector is the only charger that is capable of utilizing the Telsa PowerShare (home backup power). If you don’t care for the J1772 adapter or the PowerShare, you can save some money by opting for the Tesla Wall Connector. Then if you need to charge a EV with a J1772 in the future, you can also purchase an adapter. For me, it was worth the extra $120 for this charger because I am getting a high quality NACS to J1772 adapter that is built into the charger. The adapter does locks into the charger when not in use and also locks into the NACS plug if charging with this adapter.

    Installation:
Consult with an license electrical before installation. I opted to go with 6-AWG THHN copper wires and a 60-amp breaker for my install. If you use Romex, you may have to go with 4-AWG wires. Only three wires are required for the install (2 hots and a ground wire – no neutral wire needed). 6-AWG is the minimum size wire that Tesla recommends if you plan to charge at the 48A max output. The location of the Universal Wall Connecter is only a couple feet from my breaker panel. I purchase 6 ft of wires and use 3/4″ flexible conduct. The mounting box has a pre-drilled top and bottom knockouts made for 3/4 conducts. If you go with a larger size conduit, you will have to drill a larger opening on mounting box. There are also some pre-marked holes to drill in the back of the mounting box if you prefer to have the wires come out from the wall.

    Usage:
The charger works well. My Model 3 is set…
